Listing Subscription

It should cost thousands. Magazine advertising does. PR company retainers usually do. But Dining-Out has become the defacto standard for restaurant guides because it's effective, it's powerful and above all it's affordable.

Digital photography, processing of images on computer, collection and loading of client details, scanning and loading of restaurant logo, capturing the restaurant editorial and data capturing of menus.

One time charge of R300.00 - R500.00

Hosting of restaurant web pages, provision of direct access website address for each restaurant, indexing and database search functions, updates to client information, menus and editorial during the life of the agreement:

Monthly charge of R350.00

On-line booking facility - email.

Dining-OUT has provided a facility for diners to request a booking by email. Where this facility has been selected by a restaurant owner, a "Booking" button will appear on his page. The diner can click this button and then be presented with a brief form requesting date, time, number of people, smoking/non smoking, other comments plus his contact details. After completion this is sent to the restaurant.

The restaurant can opt for its booking requests to be forwarded as an email. There is no charge for the email booking facility.

It is important that the restaurant is responsive to customer booking requests and answers these promptly to confirm with customers by phone. For some restaurants this will not be feasible and the booking option should not then be implemented.

Visual Tours

The concept of visual tours has grabbed the attention of organizations world wide. The ability to see a 360 degree moving image has opened up opportunities in real estate and other industries. Dining-OUT has introduced this concept to its web site and restaurants can have Visual Tours of their restaurants displayed on their web page.

Visual Tour

Many prospective diners look for restaurants with this facility and a category button on the Dining-OUT home page allows them to display only those restaurants with Visual Tours.

The one off charge of R950 is for the photography and loading of the visual tours and the monthly charge of R100 is the additional monthly hosting cost. For this price four visual tours are processed and loaded and are accessed by the site visitor by clicking the Visual Tour drop down button. Check the visual tour category button and see those restaurants who have implemented this new and exciting feature.

Chef’s Profile

Chef's Profile
The chef’s role in attracting customers is well known and it is common for customers to “move” with the chef when the chef takes up a new position in another restaurant. Promoting your chef through the Chef’s profile is an important part of restaurant marketing and can be accomplished effectively for a small investment.

Banner Ads

During 2001 Dining-Out introduced the concept of banner advertising on its web pages. It is important that the look, feel and user friendliness of the home page is not affected by advertising so the extent of advertising is kept to a minimum and located only at the foot of the pages within the site.

The advertising on the home page has the same advertising that appears on subsequent pages and each page has the same look and feel.

In line with current trends, advertising costs are based on a "page view" charge out rate. In other words, each time the ad is displayed and viewed by a potential customer, a charge is made. Thus it is possible for the same space to be used by different advertisers concurrently with the actual ad displayed at any time being chosen at random. Each time an advertiser's ad is displayed and viewed, a charge is made and a counter is incremented. When the counter reaches the number of page views paid for that ad will cease displaying.

Banner Ad The advantage of this method of charging is that the advertiser does not have to worry about the popularity of the site. He will always know that one charge is levied for one page view. A high display rate will reduce the time period over which the ads are displayed and a low display rate will increase this time.

Advertisers can select the number of page views according to a table of costs which offers lower per view costs depending on the number of views purchased. Advertisers can also select the frequency of display such as 1 in 5, 1 in 10 etc. A 1 in 5 display rate will mean that for every 5 page views by site visitors, that advertiser's ad will be displayed once and other ads will be displayed for the other 4 times.

The ad will display on any page of the site but this is not particularly relevant. Whether a prospective customer views the ad on the home page or on a restaurant page it is still a viewing of the ad by a prospective customer and the counter is incremented for each viewing. The concept of banner advertising is therefore quite different from newsprint ads where one ad can be seen by any number of prospective clients but the numbers of page views is never known and location and positioning are all important.
